Visiting Family: Part 3 - Eating Famous BBQ

This is the third post for our trip back home to visit family!

To round out our trip to the Hill Country we had to go eat at the famous Salt Lick BBQ Restaurant!  Even though we both grew up in Austin, we had never been and after we saw it featured on an episode of Man v. Food we knew we had to give it a try the next time we headed back home!

Here we are with my wonderful mother-in-law, Claire's "Lita" (short for abuelita!)  

 We went at an off time in the middle of the week to avoid the 2 hour wait.  

There is just no way you can wait that long with a baby!

It was a great atmosphere and before we knew it the food was served!

 Cole Slaw, Potato Salad, Beans, Sausage, Brisket & Turkey...what a spread!

 Peach cobbler and blackberry cobbler made a mighty sweet dessert...

 ...but the company was even sweeter!

 While it was good...I have to say that Rudy's is still my personal favorite!  I just love their creamed corn and turkey!  I may or  may not have eaten it on the way home just to compare it to Salt Lick! ha!
