Claire's First Solid Food

Today was the big day!  I was so excited for Claire to have her first solid food!  I woke up and put the sweet potatoes in the oven right away.  It smelled sooooo good while they were baking.  I think we may have been even more excited than Claire.  She had no idea what was coming her way, but she knew something was up and she was excited to see what it could be.
She liked the "crunchy" bib she got to wear!
Yum, yum...homemade, organic sweet potatoes and her first sippy cup with water!
First bite...here it comes!  She's a bit uncertain of this process.
 Going in the mouth...
Lips are closed...first taste of solid food!
"Hmmm...maybe this isn't so bad." (as she tries to suck the food off the spoon)
 "Tastes yummy on my fingers."
"I'll take it from here Dad!"
After the last bite...what a mess!
I'm pretty sure that most of the food ended up on her face and her bib, but we think at least a little bit made it into her mouth.  She seemed more amused with the process than anything else.  She didn't seem to love it, but she didn't protest either, so I guess that's a good start.  Kevin and I both took turns feeding her and we thought it was too funny when she grabbed the spoon from Kevin.  We've got lots of yummy sweet potatoes to eat for the next few days, so we'll see how it goes!  The sippy cup was interesting.  I'm not really sure she's got the hang of that yet.  I took out the valve so she could drink easier and it just poured all over her bib, so we'll keep working on that. Great job Claire!

Claire is just precious! I can not believe she is 6 months old!!! Sweet Potatoes were one of Hannah's favorites. This is a fun time, seeing what they like and don't like! Enjoy this new stage of introducing solid foods! Thanks for all of your sweet blog comments!
