My 29th birthday was a hoot! It was one of those times where everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. But I can laugh about it all because none of it was that serious...it was just annoying. Here it is in a nutshell...
- Claire started running a low fever mid morning, but I thought it might be teething because she was still very active, but wasn't sure so I was worried about leaving her that night, but knew she would be in wonderful hands with my mom and dad.
- I started feeling sick 3 hours before my parents came to babysit, but I still wanted to go out since it would be more relaxing than taking care of a busy toddler
- I baked a cake for myself and just before frosting it I went to get Claire up from her nap only to return and find our cat Buddy jumped ONTO the counter and was EATING and entire half of my 2 layer cake!!! He knows he is NOT allowed on the counter! I wish I had taken a picture of that, but I was too busy scolding him!
- I had to make a few
minormajor adjustments to save the cake at that point...see photo below of my finished cake just how it was served...before it was cut! Yup, that's right...I just threw away the half the cat ate of my double layer cake and made a triple layer cake using only half size pieces instead of wholes...oh well!
- Kevin realized his credit card was lost when we arrived at the movie ( but promptly recovered it in the car, thank goodness)
- My FAVORITE restaurant who had emailed me a complimentary birthday dinner coupon and accepted a reservation for us was CLOSED and it still closed...soooo sad. We arrived to find a sign on the door that simply said "Josephine's is closed until further notice."
- Every other restaurant had a 45 min- 1 hour wait and I was pregnant and starving, but decided to wait....outside...in the cold
- 30 minutes into it I decided I couldn't wait anymore...I was dizzy and needed to EAT!
- I said let's just go to Rudy's BBQ so we can order and eat fast and because they have my favorite caffeine free Root Beer (pretty much the only time I ever drink a soda!)
- we get to Rudy's and they are OUT of the Root Beer (are you kidding me?)
- I was so sick the next day I could barely get out of bed
In the end none of this was that big of a deal, but it was worth a good laugh for us. I am just thankful for my husband, my daughter, my sweet son growing in my tummy and parents on both sides who love us and support us unconditionally. Because of them, this was truly one of the best birthdays in history!
Here is a view of the pretty half of my cake (you all know what the other half looked like, haha) and Claire and I blowing out the candles!
