Memorial Day Weekend 2012

Here is a recap of our Memorial Day Weekend 2012!

Saturday morning we took a trip to the Farmer's Market!
I LOVE going here!  Everything is so fresh, local and the prices can't be beat!
 Yummy fruits and veggies!

It is located in a historic area of town so Claire had fun playing on this historic home's front porch!
I couldn't resist this photo op with the American Flag on Memorial Day Weekend!
Claire had a blast people watching!  She was very entertained.

Playing with Daddy and getting tossed in the air!  Wheeeee!!
One of the farmers was handing out fresh lavender!!  Daddy lets Claire smell it!
Back home on the front porch enjoying the nice morning.

At lunch time I thought I would give her some of the local yogurt we got at the Farmer's Market.  It was "drinkable" yogurt and she was doing just fine drinking it through the straw.  I turned around for half a second to get something and BAM-she dumped it all over her dress.  "Uh-oh," she said.  So I took off her dress thinking it was only on top but...
it was all over her!  Poor Claire, what a mess!
Once she realized how bad it was she was not happy!  No worries though, we got it all cleaned up and then headed outside for some more fun.
Outside activities were in full swing with Claire rotating around between the slide, baby pool, water table, and so on!
 We had a blast!
I put out flags on the fence which we loved and will try to remember to do this again on the 4th of July!
Sunday morning we were back outside again and Claire was playing with her water table.

I baked a Strawberry Yogurt cake and we bought a mini apple pie at the Farmer's Market.
Our family of 3 on Memorial Day!  Photo credit to my Dad for getting pictures of all 3 of us in it!

Nana & Opa came over to play outside and grill burgers with us.
A local charity event is always held near our house on Memorial Day Weekend and as part of their opening they have WWII planes do a flyover!  We look forward to this mini air show every year!
This year it did not disappoint.  You can barely see the planes and their smoke trail in this photo.  Maybe this time next year I'll have a zoom lens to get a better photo!
Claire playing with her beach ball sprinkler.  She wasn't too excited about it when it was squirting water, but she had a blast with it when it was off.
Another shot of the planes going by again!  Kevin was SOOO excited about this and Claire was too!
We had really nice weather.  One of our favorite outdoor spots...
Claire with her little baby.  Our evening ended with a beautiful fireworks show that the charity does every year!  We love that we get to enjoy all of these things from our own backyard!  It was the perfect ending to a perfect day with family and fun!

Just for fun, here is Claire last year on Memorial Day,
And here she is this year in the same chair!  What a BIG girl she is now!
This year really got me thinking about how many men and women are away from their families to serve our country.  I can't imagine how very difficult that must be and what a sacrifice it is for them and their  husbands, wives and children.  THANK YOU to all the brave men and women who serve our country so we can have freedom!  May God bless you all and God Bless America!
