Claire spent the night with my parents the day that Clark was born and then my parents brought her home the next day to meet her baby brother. It was a powerful moment to be together for the first time as a family of four! The moment Claire walked in the door she saw me and the first thing she did was look at my tummy and say, "Clark's not in your tummy anymore, Mama." Then she went looking for him. We had him in the bouncer because we wanted to be able to hold her and welcome her without her feeling any jealousy if either one of us was holding Clark.
I remember the moment that I saw her approach him and it struck me like a ton of bricks that she was not the baby anymore...yesterday she was my baby and seemed so small, but today next to her newborn baby brother she was big and grown up and much more of a little girl than I had ever seen in her before. It was hard to swallow, but beautiful at the same time as I saw her welcome him with love and joy. My heart was so relieved to see her response to him.
She pointed to each of his features and told us that he had eyes, a nose, a mouth, two ears, etc. She wanted to hold him and give him kisses, hugs and affection.
Our first family photo!
Opa and Nana got their turn to hold baby Clark for the first time. They couldn't believe how small he was either!

Shortly after that we all enjoyed our first family dinner! Thank you mom and Dad for bringing us dinner that night! It was delicious!
