2008 has been a VERY busy year! In many ways it was the year we have been waiting for! 2008 was our first year as homeowners, Kevin graduated with his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree, and I got a job working super close to home!
As we say goodbye to 2008 we are also saying goodbye to our Scion xA. We have had it for a long time and it sure was a good car. However, it seems that with each holiday the car was getting smaller and smaller! Here are some of our best memories with the little Scion xA...
Back in 2005 we drove the Scion xA from Austin to Houston to shop at IKEA! This was way before they built the IKEA in Round Rock! We managed to fit 2 HUGE desks, 2 office chairs, 1 rug, 3 canvas pictures, 2 vases, (2) 4 foot long floating shelves and all of our luggage into this car! We drove all the way back to Austin with BOTH front seats pushed all the way forward and the hatch tied shut! It was the heat of the summer and we were burning up all the way back home!
We brought home Bindi for the first time in the Scion Xa. It was not too long after bringing her home that the car began to shrink more and more with every trip we took!!!
Holidays were always fun as we played tetris to get the car packed. The past two years I have chosen gifts for people based on what will fit in the car! Gift cards have been very popular choices for us!
This car was our first big purchase as a married couple and for some reason that made it difficult for me to let go of for sentimental reasons. Now here we are several years later in a new chapter of our life. We are looking ahead to a future with lots of traveling to visit our family in Austin, and someday we'll need space for car seats and baby gear so we knew that it was time for a new car. All the trips to Austin over the past few weeks have made that VERY apparent. So, we are cruising into 2009 in our new ride...
A 2008 Mazda cx9!
The silver lining to a slumping economy is that it is truly a good time to buy right now! We got a killer deal on this 2008 model that they were desperate to get off the lot so that they could start selling the 2009 models that were priced MUCH higher!
Now we have room for us, our luggage, our dog and even room to grow in the coming years! We are so excited!
I-35 here we come!
