"Cabining"

Early November my we joined my parents near Beavers Bend State Park for a long weekend of "cabining".  We have been several times in the past and this has to be one of my all time favorite places to go.  It's only a few hours away and yet when you get there it feels like you are so far away.  I loved getting to share this experience with our kids!  Clark was too young to really participate, but he was a super baby and aside from a massive diaper blow out that took the whole family's help to clean up along with laundry machines and a bath in the sink all while we were starving and trying to rush out the door to go eat breakfast, he was a champ!  Claire had a weekend full of one new experience after the other!  I grew up camping with my parents (in tents and a pop-up) so seeing her with my mom and dad reliving my memories was like a window into my childhood!  I'll let the photos tell the story...

The car was JAM packed...and I mean literally JAM packed.  We could not fit one more thing!  Thank gosh my parents had a bunch of our stuff in their car! It is unbelievable how much stuff we bring now!

This tent is as old as I am!  I used to camp in it and my parents brought it for Claire to play in!  So fun and brought back lots of good memories.

A sprained growth plate didn't hold this girl back from exploring the swingset in our cabin's backyard!

Many attempts of getting a photo of these two together...this was the best I got.  Poor Clark is being taken out by that cast!

The child who hasn't napped in the car since she was 7 months old and stopped daily naps before the age of 2 fell asleep in the car....unbelievable!
