Good Old Fashioned Care Still Exists

In today's world it seems that a visit to the doctor is not what it once was. With all of the "Doc in a Box" offices popping up, the time wasted in a waiting room and then more time lost once you are taken to another room, along with the impersonal care often received, a trip to the doctor is simply not fun. With this in mind, Kevin and I have taken every measure to ensure that our patients never have the experience described above.

Until yesterday, I thought that the concept Kevin and I are going for was not embraced by many (if any) other medical doctors. I have grown to expect the wasted time and expensive charges for a simple visit to the doctor. After 10 days of Kevin being sick and trying everything we thought might work, (vitamin C, echinacea, Sinus medicine, neti pot, etc) we decided it was definitely time for a trip to visit the doctor.

I knew just who to call. I stumbled across Harmony Family Health's website many months ago and kept it bookmarked on my computer, just in case we needed it one day.

Let me just tell you...this doc was awesome! There was no waiting to see him. He saw us at our scheduled appointment time. (imagine that!) There wasn't a nurse who came in first, and then left. It was just the doc! He listened, he cared, he asked questions. He never rushed. He was sincere! Maybe it's just the experiences I have had...but this was amazing! The picture below was borrowed from his website.

Not only was his bedside manner fabulous, the concept of his office was so cool! He is located in a historic home in downtown McKinney. His office is in part of the downstairs and his family actually lives upstairs. This is a concept from France. The idea is that during downtime the doctor can be with his family, and can also easily see patients in the event of an emergency without taking away time from his family spent driving back and forth to the office each time. It did not feel like a doctor's office at all. The atmosphere was professional and comfortable, and enjoyable! I will never go anywhere else again! I pray that we can offer our patients the same level of care and that they will walk away feeling like we did wanting to tell everyone how awesome their experience was.

Here it is....

Oh- I forgot to mention what makes this doctor so unique. He combines the best of both eastern and western medicine to help his patients. So we didn't just walk out the door with a prescription, he also did some acupuncture to help relieve the pain Kevin was experiencing from his sinus infection! It was so cool! We were in and out in about 30 minutes and Kevin was already feeling some relief from the acupuncture by the time we got in the car!

I have to say, I was very impressed! I look forward to using Dr. Chartrand as our family physician for many years to come, especially when we have kids! Who knew that going to the doctor could be such a pleasant experience!

If you live anywhere near McKinney, you should definitely go there next time you are feeling sick!

I think I read about him a couple of years ago when I was researching childhood vaccines. I probably would have used him he he wasn't so far from me. He was one who did alternative schedules of vaccines.
