Smash cake...or Not!!

One of the moms in our lens baby group is building her photography portfolio for her business and was looking for babies close to 1 year old to do some smash cake photos.  

 I thought it might be fun since we didn't actually do a real smash cake for Claire's first birthday.  She had a cupcake and really enjoyed that, so I imagined that she would really be exited for this big, beautiful cake...

 after a few moments passed and Claire hadn't shown any interest in the cake I tried giving her a bite to get her going...

 and this was her reaction! Not interested at all....I was so surprised!

 I stuck her finger in the frosting to try to show her how to do it and then she was just concerned that her finger was dirty...oh my goodness!!!

 So she wiped it on her outfit!

 And then she just hung out watching all of us moms with cameras ready for action.

 Pointing to the other kids...still not interested in the BIG cake right in front of her!

 And that was it!

However...once we got home and Kevin and I started cutting the cake and eating it, she quickly realized what she missed out on and was sneaking over to it and asking for "more"!  She can almost reach it!

I felt bad that my friend didn't get and actual "cake smashing" photos from Claire, but on the bright side, we all really enjoyed eating the cake back at home!
