Thanks to the AMAZING cool front that blew through just in time, we had such a wonderful labor day weekend this year.
Saturday was the beginning of football season which always pumps me up knowing that fall is right around the corner! Claire sported her University of Texas gear in support of our hometown given to her by her Nana & Opa! Go Longhorns!
Also, I thought the grandparents might get a kick out of this little comic strip of Claire taking off her hair bow! It's only a matter of time before these probably won't be staying on her head at all! (although I hope she will learn to keep them on! :)
The weather on Monday here was just amazing! We woke up like kids on Christmas morning when we felt the cool breeze outside. All the windows were open and we were outside for 8 hours straight! We loved it. Kevin hung this new swing for Claire just in time!
She was in heaven!
I think she would swing in it all day if we let her.
It was perfect for her to have a place to hang out while we cleaned the patio furniture and washed the windows. Claire says, "Thank you Daddy! I love my new swing!"
We also bought a smoker brick---which basically makes your grill work like a smoker! While it seriously took forever to cook a 2.25lb brisket, it was sooooo yummy! Claire's onesie says, "Dad's BBQ Buddy" on it. I bought this when we were pregnant and before we knew the gender...so I had to make it girly with a skirt and big red bow!
Sorry for all the pictures of Claire swinging...I just had to post them all for our memories.
Even Bindi had a blast outside!
We had so much fun yesterday. For the first time ever, Claire actually went to bed early...an hour early!
This weather was just what we needed! I felt like a new person after being inside for sooo long. Our street was filled with neighbors and kids all day long. Everyone was so happy to be outside! I know we'll still have some more hot days, but I am so happy these cooler days are coming.
And, one last thing....I don't mean to bring this post down, but it wouldn't be complete without mentioning how sad we are for the families in our hometown of Austin who have lost their homes due to these raging wildfires. It it just truly heartbreaking to imagine what they are experiencing. The fires are very close to our families and we are praying that they will be under control and end soon. As much as we enjoyed our day outside, there was a part of me that was mourning for those whose days were much the opposite of ours. I went to high school with someone whose parents house burned to the ground and they lost their cat in the flames. So sad. Praying for everyone's safety, the endurance of the courageous firefighters and that these fires will end soon.

Hi! I just stumbled across your blog from Crockpotalooza and couldnt help but read around. We have a lot in common and I enjoy reading your posts. Your little Claire is ADORABLE! I'm about to have my 2nd daughter and after reading your natural birth story I'm tempted to say no to the epidural! Sounds like you had a great recovery. I hope you dont mind me following your blog!
